Our Future Heroes. Our Future Medical Frontliners. They Need Us Now.

Our Future Heroes. Our Future Medical Frontliners. They Need Us Now.

The times right now need special consideration, over and above, the standard pricing and availability of all kinds of vaccine needed by medical students, practitioners, and those wishing to ply their professional trades in service to the health of our nation.

Be it planned private or public practice, what the government can do to proactively anticipate increasing pandemic challenges and necessary front liners to act on it, is to speed up their entry into their medical residency in community health centers, hospitals, and other sites of medical trainings, by making sure that these future frontliners will no longer bear the burden of paying and looking for the required vaccines they need just to be able to get into another level of their education- that is, medical internship.

We hail them as heroes when national or global emergencies occur, but we fail to even take a glimpse if their preparation and entry into the battlefield, where they gamble their life on, is already too much to overcome. For all we know, some of them would become Doctors to the Barrio. Why can’t the government fully spend for all their vaccine requirements and speed up their entry into medical public service?

Surely, there is no better use of tax payers money than this idea of sponsoring these future Doctor to the Barrios.

And if this idea crosses the minds of our Law Makers and Department of Health, isn’t it only right to prioritize this action as there are medical students right now contemplating to drop-off their medical studies because of lack of money to pay for their required full vaccination or just the outright increasing medical study expense. And more than ever, because of the really hard times, our future heroes need their government now. No time to waste. If that can be done tomorrow, then it should be done right away to save those who will save us in the future.

If I am the President of the Philippines right now, I’ll make an Executive Order to address it right away before I sleep. Who knows, the one I stand for a needy medical front-liner would be the one who would save my life in the future. This is simply a dramatization of the need to show and give importance to the people the nation owed its life to in the recent COVID-19 pandemic.

Or if I am a Senator, Congressman, Secretary of DOH, Governor, Mayor, Barangay Captains, Medical School Deans, Hospital Directors, Practicing Doctors and Nurses, Medical Associations, or just plain Philanthropist, I would get out of my way to identify those future heroes around and near me as early as today and offer a hand to personally alleviate their hardship to be doctors and nurses of the future. The least that we can do. Much better and more than the current situation where we do only lip service to honor them.

No time to waste as we are losing than gaining additional frontliner manpower because of inflation and hardship in life right now. We must help them get off the ground, at least in terms of getting vaccinated for their internship.

Best and my value added recommendation is to make all those wishing to be a “Doctor to the Barrio” a full State Scholar no matter what Medical School they are studying right now.

I hope my simple article, that is more of begging for support for these heroes than a plea for their plight as “Frontliners of the Future” fall on sympathetic and emphatic Filipinos who may have the power, authority, or financial means to save them.

They can save us back.

Do share this idea to lend a hand for them in your FB, Twitter, Instagram, Viber, WhatsApp, Pinterest, Reddit, Quora, or any other social media sites timeline or chat groups. Perhaps email, or submit to printed media institutions, TV or radio for their news item or scoop, or even powerful people in the government whom you personally know or have family relations with. This is to at least help our “would-be-heroes” who are now fighting their own personal war against poverty. Maybe, this simple action would reach those who can make sure they can be one.

There is no Law where there is no Faith

“The doctors of the law did not understand the joy of the promise; they did not understand the joy of hope. However, our father Abraham was able to rejoice because he had faith. These doctors of the law had lost the faith: they were doctors of the law, but without faith! Moreover: they had lost the law! Because the centre of law is love, love for God and for neighbor….” (Francis)

Ethnic and physical characteristics cannot be right or wrong; they just are.

However, beliefs and sexual desires can be right or wrong. Therefore, “communities” formed around these characteristics are of a different nature, and we treat them differently.
