Ex GAVI Vaccine Scientist Claims COVID Vaccines May Create Highly Infectious Variants

  • The Facts:Dr. Geert Vanden Bossche, a vaccine expert who has a wealth of experience in the field, recently shared his belief that the COVID-19 vaccine many create more variants of the virus and an increase in cases.
  • Reflect On:Since information from qualified experts is important in how the everyday person makes their decisions, should we not be seeing a more open and transparent dialogue around covid vaccines, as opposed to censorship and ridicule?

Supermodelling led India into Covid Disaster

An outbreak the size of India’s second wave, apparently fuelled by Covid-19 variants that appear to be more infectious than earlier strains, would have overwhelmed most public health systems – let alone one of the most chronically underfunded in the world, serving a vast, spread-out population.

But public health experts, including some involved in advising the government, say the scale of India’s current outbreak was also partly manmade, the result of a feeling of exceptionalism that emanated from the top of the Indian government and rippled across society, leading to countless administrative and personal decisions that, within a few months, would prove disastrous.

EXTEMPORANEOUS

“ ‘Brothers, if you have any exhortation to address to the people, please speak up.’ So Paul arose, motioned to them for silence, and began.” —Acts 13:15-16

Imagine visiting a church. You’re a total stranger. After the reading of the Scriptures, everyone sits down. Suddenly the priest or minister looks at you and asks if you would give the sermon. What would you do?

This happened to St. Paul when he visited the synagogue of Antioch in Pisidia. When Paul was put on the spot, he was ready. He even gave the assembly a tour through the history of the chosen people (Acts 13:16ff). Later, Paul was ready to witness to the jailer during a jailbreak (Acts 16:29ff). He witnessed about Jesus even after he suffered shipwreck and was bitten by a snake (Acts 27:43—28:4ff). Even Peter, who froze when a servant girl asked him about Jesus, changed dramatically and later could write: “Should anyone ask you the reason for this hope of yours, be ever ready to reply” (1 Pt 3:15).

When we make the act of faith and open our mouths, the Spirit puts courage in our hearts, revelations into our minds, and words on our lips. Jesus promised: “When they hand you over, do not worry about what you will say or how you will say it. When the hour comes, you will be given what you are to say. You yourselves will not be the speakers; the Spirit of your Father will be speaking in you” (Mt 10:19-20).

Prayer:  Jesus, in the next forty-eight hours, may I break new ground and talk about You to a person I never could before.

Promise:  “I solemnly assure you, no slave is greater than his master.” —Jn 13:16

Praise:  In Catherine’s short life of 33 years, she made clear her deep devotion to Christ. In 1970, Pope St. Paul VI named her a Doctor of the Church. Three priests were assigned to keep up with those she led to repent.

How do you treat those who cause you grief or harm, especially those who are close to you in some way? In his last supper discourse, Jesus addressed the issue of fidelity and disloyalty in relationships. Jesus knew beforehand that one of his own disciples would betray him. Such knowledge could have easily led Jesus to distance himself from such a person and to protect himself from harm’s way. Instead, Jesus expresses his love, affection, and loyalty to those who were his own, even to the one he knew would “stab him in the back” when he got the opportunity. Jesus used a quotation from Psalm 4:9 which describes an act of treachery by one’s closest friend. In the culture of Jesus’ day, to eat bread with someone was a gesture of friendship and trust. Jesus extends such friendship to Judas right at the moment when Judas is conspiring to betray his master. The expression lift his heel against me reinforces the brute nature of this act of violent rejection.

Love and loyalty that endure to the end

Jesus loved his disciples to the end and proved his faithfulness to them even to death on the cross. Through his death and resurrection Jesus opened a new way of relationship and friendship with God. Jesus tells his disciples that if they accept him they also accept the Father who sent him. This principle extends to all who belong to Christ and who speak in his name. To accept the Lord’s messenger is to accept Jesus himself. The great honor and the great responsibility a Christian has is to stand in the world for Jesus Christ. As his disciples and ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20), we are called to speak for him and to act on his behalf. Are you ready to stand for Jesus at the cross of humiliation, rejection, opposition, and suffering?

“Eternal God, who are the light of the minds that know you, the joy of the hearts that love you, and the strength of the wills that serve you; grant us so to know you, that we may truly love you, and so to love you that we may fully serve you, whom to serve is perfect freedom, in Jesus our Lord. (Prayer of Saint Augustine)”

Knowledge in Life that Matters Most

Daily Reading & Reflection. 28 Apr 2021.

Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Easter

Reflection 1

AN OPEN-BOOK TEST

“If anyone hears My words and does not keep them, I am not the one to condemn him, for I did not come to condemn the world but to save it. Whoever rejects Me and does not accept My words already has his judge, namely the word I have spoken — it is that which will condemn him on the last day.” —John 12:47-48

Jesus clearly reveals that the Word of God will be the standard by which we are judged “on the last day” (Jn 12:48). It’s like those times in school when the teacher gave us an open-book test. The answers were all there in the book. An open-book test should be the easiest type of test — if we had taken the time to learn the material revealed in the textbook. Jesus, the “Teacher” (Mt 19:16), has blessed us by revealing to us in advance the answers for the test on the last day. It’s all in the Good Book.

When you were in school, you also had other study guides. One of the most common guides was called the Cliffs Notes. The best study guide for the final test is the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which was revealed to the Church in advance of the test by the Holy Spirit. There are many hundreds of Scripture verses quoted in the Catechism. So the question becomes: Do you know the Word of God? How well have you tried to know it? Will you be surprised by the test on the last day?

Prayer:  Father, I will dedicate the rest of my life to helping as many as possible be ready to know, love, and serve You in this life and be happy with You in the next. May the Word of the Lord “spread and increase” because of my love for You (Acts 12:24).

Promise:  “I have come to the world as its Light, to keep anyone who believes in Me from remaining in the dark.” —Jn 12:46

Praise:  Over the past three centuries, St. Louis de Montfort has inspired faithful Catholics to trust Our Lady’s intercessory role. His book, True Devotion to Mary, remains a classic.

What kind of darkness does Jesus warn us to avoid? It is the darkness of unbelief and rejection – not only of the Son who came into the world to save it – but rejection of the Father who offers us healing and reconciliation through his Son, Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ last public discourse before his death and resurrection (according to John’s Gospel), Jesus speaks of himself as the light of the world. In the Scriptures light is associated with God’s truth and life. Psalm 27 exclaims, The Lord is my light and my salvation.

The light of Christ removes the darkness and reveals the goodness of God to us

Just as natural light exposes the darkness and reveals what is hidden, so God’s word enables those with eyes of faith to perceive the hidden truths of God’s kingdom. Our universe could not exist without light – and no living thing could be sustained without it. Just as natural light produces warmth and energy – enabling seed to sprout and living things to grow – in like manner, God’s light and truth enables us to grow in the abundant life which only he can offer us. Jesus’ words produce life – the very life of God – within those who receive it with faith.

To see Jesus, the Word of God who became flesh for our sake (John 1), is to see God in visible form. To hear the words of Jesus is to hear the voice of God. He is the very light of God that has power to overcome the darkness of sin, ignorance, and unbelief. God’s light and truth brings healing, pardon, and transformation. This light is not only for the chosen people of Israel, but for the whole world as well. Jesus warns that if we refuse to listen to his word, if we choose to ignore it or to take it very lightly, then we choose to remain in spiritual darkness.

The Word of God has power to set us free from sin, doubt, and deception

Jesus made it clear that he did not come to condemn us, but rather to bring us abundant life and freedom from the oppression of sin, Satan, and a world in opposition to God’s truth and goodness. We condemn ourselves when we reject God’s word of truth, life, and wisdom. It is one thing to live in ignorance due to lack of knowledge and understanding, but another thing to disdain the very source of truth who is Christ Jesus, the Word of God sent from the Father. Jesus says that his word – which comes from the Father and which produces eternal life in us – will be our judge. Do you believe that God’s word has power to set you free from sin and ignorance and to transform your life in his way of holiness?

Saint Augustine of Hippo (354-430 AD) summed up our need for God’s help in the following prayer he wrote: “God our Father, we find it difficult to come to you, because our knowledge of you is imperfect. In our ignorance we have imagined you to be our enemy; we have wrongly thought that you take pleasure in punishing our sins; and we have foolishly conceived you to be a tyrant over human life. But since Jesus came among us, he has shown that you are loving, and that our resentment against you was groundless.”

The Holy Spirit opens our minds to understand the truth and wisdom of God’s word

God does not wish to leave us in spiritual darkness – in our ignorance and unbelief. He is always ready to give his light, wisdom, and truth to all who seek him and who hunger for his word. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit he helps us to grow each and every day in faith, knowledge, and understanding of his life-giving word. Do you want to know more of God and grow in his transforming love? Look to Jesus, the Light of God, and in his truth you will find joy, freedom, and wholeness of body, mind, heart, and soul.

“Lord Jesus, in your word I find life, truth, and freedom. May I never doubt your word nor forget your commandments. Increase my love for your truth that I may embrace it fully and live according to it.”

Measurement Over Opinion

For me, the biggest impact that these Measure Upreaders had for me was the realisation that we are all part of the tribe of truth seekers. We understand and value how much better our impact can be when it’s informed with more objective evidence. It’s this tribe of truth seekers that I serve.

Thank you to all my readers who contributed their perspectives above, and led me to this clearer purpose.

None of us can expect to turn the entire world around us into truth seekers. But we can – and should – find other truth seekers who are lost and confused in the world of opinion. They might need a tribe like ours, for support and learning and inspiration.

Measurement may never win over opinion, but as truth seekers, we have more ways than one to bring a little more objectivity into opinion-led decision-making.

Covid Death in India

“The figures on Covid infections that the government is releasing are actually an underestimate,” Dr Manas Gumta, general secretary of the Association of Health Service Doctors in West Bengal, told the Observer.

“A huge suspected Covid-positive population is certainly staying away from the tests. I believe the actual number of people dying of Covid is two to three times higher than what the government is reporting. And the number of infections could be up to five times than what is being reported by the Indian authorities.”

Saturday’s official toll recorded another 2,600 deaths and 340,000 new infections, bringing the total number of cases to 16.5 million, second only to the US. There have been 190,000 deaths attributed to Covid in India since the start of the pandemic.

Five healthy things you should stop doing

As a registered dietitian it is my job (and passion!) to help clients meet their health goals. And I know from personal experience just how hard it can sometimes be to meet the goals we set for ourselves. There are some “healthy” things I see my clients doing because they think they’re making the healthier choice, but really they’re just setting themselves up for more challenges, if not failure. And I can’t blame them—there’s so much messaging out there about how to eat (which foods, what time, which amounts) that it can be tough to know what will actually help us. I chose the top five mistakes I see people making and listed them below along with my suggestions of what to do instead.
